Losing a Loved One Because of Someone Else’s Careless Behavior is Devastating

Anytime a life is lost, the family left behind can experience devastation and overwhelming grief. This is especially true in the case of an unexpected death following a catastrophic event caused by someone else’s negligence.

Utah law provides that whenever a person’s death is caused by the “wrongful act or neglect of another, [their family] may maintain an action for damages against the person responsible for their death.” This is why these types of deaths are characterized as “Wrongful Deaths.”

At Johnson Livingston, we take the loss of your loved ones seriously. While we understand that no amount of money will bring them back, or replace all of those lost opportunities to have them in your life, it’s likely that in addition to the emotional impact this person had in your life, their loss also contributes to a loss of income for your family, either due to funeral expenses or because of their death results in a lost job and income.

Regardless of the situation, if your loved one was killed in an accident, you should immediately contact a Utah Personal Injury Attorney.

We recommend you interview  several attorneys to see who will be the best fit for you, and who will go the extra mile in telling your loved one’s story, and caring about them, and what happened to them, as much as you do.

Common Types of Wrongful Death Cases:

  • Motor Vehicle Accidents (car, motorcycle, truck)

Why Would You Need An Attorney For a Wrongful Death Claims?

Every wrongful death claim is different, but one thing remains the same; the hardest part of these cases is being able to talk about a person’s life, what was lost, and what changes you are going to go through now that they’re gone.

As your attorneys, we want to tell your loved one’s story. We want you to tell us everything about them, what made them special, and how their loss has been so devastating. Learning their story, and knowing them through you, helps us more adequately convey the value of your loss.

While we can unequivocally state, the full value of their loss will never be restored regardless of your compensation from your claim, we want to help right the wrong as much as we can.

What we look at instead are areas both quantifiable and invaluable ways that their loss will impact your daily life such as:

L

Loss of Future Earnings

The loss of future earnings after a loss can be detrimental for families. Throughout your claim, we work to replace those earnings to make your life a little easier, despite that lost income.  We are able to evaluate the loss of future earnings and give a monetary amount to what you will be dealing with.

L

Contribution to Your House

Depending on the role your family member played in your home, we are able to quantify the loss of household services and assistance you received from them.

L

Lost Memories & Time:

Maybe that loved one will now be missed at future life milestones, like weddings, graduations, babies being born, something you looked forward to sharing with them.

Unlike other attorneys, who often want to sign you up, settle the case, and ship you out the door, we want to spend as much time as possible with you and your family, so we can truly appreciate your experience with this loss.

Having the right Utah Personal Injury Attorney, like those at Johnson Livingston, who not only understands the wrongful death claim process but is invested in you and your family, will take the stress off of you, as you are grieving the loss of your loved one. Let us focus on getting your loved one the justice they deserve, while you focus on rebuilding  your future without the one you love.
